James Pope
James F. Pope was born in Racine, Wisconsin, and grew up there, attending Wisconsin Lutheran School for grade school. After graduating from Northwestern College in Watertown, WI, and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI he served parishes in Wisconsin and Florida. Pastor Pope served as a professor of history, religion, and staff ministry at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN, until his retirement. During his ministry he was also involved in WELS Commission on Inter-Church Relations, acting as its secretary. In addition to occasionally serving as a vacancy pastor in churches around WELS, he has been serving since January 2023 as the Executive Editor of Forward in Christ, the official magazine of WELS.
