President of Northwestern Publishing House

The mission of Northwestern Publishing House (NPH) is to deliver biblically sound Christ-centered resources within the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod and beyond. To fulfill this mission, NPH connects people with God’s Word through the publishing and sales of trustworthy Christian books, curriculum, periodicals, and gifts.

With the planned retirement of its current President, NPH is seeking an experienced business leader to fill this key position. Use your leadership skills, knowledge, and experience to support the mission and work of NPH through:

  • Establishing and communicating long-range strategic direction and executing plans across the organization that support NPH’s mission and maximize its ministry impact.
  • Overseeing all functional areas of NPH including product development and production, distribution, customer and subscription services, human resources, finance/accounting, information technology, and sales and marketing.
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies, and evaluating the organization’s financial performance to ensure long-term ministry viability.

It takes hard work, a proactive approach, solid organization skills, and the ability to interact well with others to be successful in any position. Here are some additional experiences and skills that we are looking for to ensure success as President of Northwestern Publishing House:

  • Master’s degree in business or a minimum of ten years related experience.
  • Five years experience in a business or non-profit senior level leadership position.
  • Experience across multiple functional areas including marketing, finance, product development, and customer service.
  • Leadership experience in the publishing industry or a non-profit setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in the areas of:
    • Organization development and administration
    • Verbal and written communication
    • Problem solving and decision making
    • Building and sustaining relationships

To be considered, you must be an active member in good standing of a WELS congregation. You must also have an understanding of Scriptural doctrine and principles as professed in the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments and in the confessional writings of the Lutheran Church as found in the Book of Concord of 1580.

Customer Service Representative

Part-time

Use your skills and knowledge to share God’s Word by connecting people with quality Christian books and gifts. In this important role you will contribute to expanding Northwestern Publishing House’s ministry impact through serving customers as part of our call center team. You will daily have an opportunity to contribute to a servant culture of Christian witness and ministry by providing effective, personalized and memorable service. Specifically, you will help customers find materials they are looking for, recommend additional relevant resources, take phone orders, and assist customers in placing online orders.

It takes hard work, a proactive approach, a positive outlook, and the ability to interact well with others to be successful in any position. Here are some additional experiences and skills that we are looking for to ensure success in the role of Customer Service Representative at Northwestern Publishing House:

  • Experience in helping customers in a retail or call center setting
  • Confidence in recommending relevant materials and resources to others
  • General knowledge of typical online shopping processes
  • Demonstrated organization and problem solving skills
  • Solid Microsoft Office skills

While we are a relatively small organization, you will need to enjoy working independently and thrive on multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.

Digital Marketing Assistant

Part-time

Use your skills and knowledge to support the mission of the Northwestern Publishing House (NPH) as a part of our marketing team. NPH connects people with God’s Word through the publishing and sales of quality Christian books and gifts.

NPH is hiring a part-time Digital Marketing Assistant. In this important role you will work closely with other marketing staff and will be responsible for supporting the work of NPH by performing the following:

  • Executing marketing tactics on NPH’s ecommerce site
  • Initiating, coordinating, and executing all social media activities
  • Working with the marketing team to monitor, analyze, and report on success of ecommerce and social media activities, providing actionable insights.

It takes hard work, a proactive approach, and the ability to interact well with others to be successful in any position. Here are some additional experiences and skills that we are looking for to ensure success in this role at Northwestern Publishing House:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize multiple deadlines
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, especially Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram
  • Experience with HTML and web-based content management systems—preferably NetSuite and WordPress
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Google Analytics
  • Membership in WELS/ELS with an understanding of the synod’s mission, objectives, and vision is preferred.
