Tips
For the best experience, log into the account under which you wish to make your purchases before searching Musician’s Resource. Purchases can’t be made unless you log in, and notices about items already displayed will not show unless you are logged into the account under which you have previously purchased items.
Reminder: Items purchased on Musician’s Resource belong either to a congregation or an individual, not both. Review the Terms of Use for more information. To avoid duplicate purchases, we encourage congregations or individuals to make all purchases under a single account.
Accidental or duplicate purchases cannot be refunded. To preserve the integrity of digital resources, copyright and permissions, accidental or duplicate purchases cannot be refunded. The return of physical resources ensures that the resource is no longer in possession of or use by the purchaser; such assurance is not possible with digital resources.
Frequently Asked Questions
I searched for a specific hymn, psalm, or liturgy and no results were returned. Why not?
Barring an error in entry when filling out the form (click the “i” icons on the search form for tips), no search results means that resources for that particular hymn, psalm, or liturgy are not yet available. This may mean resources are planned for future development, are currently in development, or are pending permissions. It may also mean that a resource of a specific type is not deemed appropriate or useful for a given hymn, psalm, or liturgy. The latter is somewhat subjective, and if there is a resource you’d like to suggest, please see below.
Who should buy the resources: my congregation or me individually?
That depends on who is funding the resources and how the resources are intended to be used. Review the Terms of Use, which outlines the differences between congregational vs individual terms. In general, if a resource is being funded by the church and intended for use by current and active staff/worship volunteers only and at the purchasing church only, the church should purchase the resource. If the resource is being funded by an individual and meant for use only by the individual (but perhaps in various locations or for a number of individual purposes, or with the intent of maintaining legal individual use should the musician move or change congregations), then the individual should purchase. Each congregation and its musicians are encouraged to have a discussion about local funding, needs and intended use and purchase resources accordingly. Remember that the account under which a resource is purchased is subject to the terms of use for that type of account.
Where can I find my files once I have made my purchase?
All purchased digital files are located in your nph.net account area. After signing in to the account with which you purchased the MR digital files, click the account name at the top right of the page (“Welcome [NAME]”). At the far left of the pop-up menu, click “Musician’s Resource Products” under Purchases to see, search, or download your purchased MR items.
How do I suggest a resource be made available?
Some resources are planned for future development, currently in development, or pending permissions. Other specific resource types may be deemed not appropriate or not useful for a given hymn, psalm, or liturgy, and therefore are not currently planned for development or release. The latter is somewhat subjective. Regardless, if there is a resource you would like to suggest be considered, please send an email to orders@nph.wels.net with the subject line “MR resource suggestion.” Note: sending an email does not guarantee development and/or future availability of the suggested resource.
I’m searching items and getting results I know I have purchased. Why isn’t “already purchased” showing on those I’ve purchased before?
Make sure you are logged into the nph.net account from which you have purchased your resources previously. This feature only works if you are logged into your nph.net account and it is the account from which you have purchased resources previously. If you are not logged in, or if you are logged in but did not purchase resources from that account, the feature will not be available.
Some resources have samples and some don’t. Why is that?
Samples can be helpful in determining whether or not a resource will be useful to your situation or needs. Look Insides are offered when they can be sufficiently watermarked to deter use without purchase. Audio samples are offered when they have been recorded or when one can be sufficiently generated by software.
My congregation would like to establish a budgeted balance that I can purchase against each year. Is that possible?
NPH.net and the Musician’s Resource in particular do not have the option to purchase against a prepaid “credit” balance. For those congregations wishing to budget an amount for other worship planners to spend up to/against in the Musician’s Resource as those planners see fit, we encourage the congregation to purchase an NPH electronic gift card for the budgeted amount and have authorized individuals/ensembles purchase items using that gift card code.
We have a team of people who need access to the purchases made by our congregation. How do we accomplish that?
It is best to establish a local access point on your local network server or via a shared cloud account (such as Dropbox) for your congregation’s Musician’s Resource purchases. While there is a dedicated area in the nph.net My Account for Musician’s Resource items, it is not meant to be a shared multiple access point for ongoing usage of the files but rather for initially purchasing the files. Once purchased, resources should be downloaded and organized locally as best suits the access and use of digital resources by your local worship leaders/team members.
I have created resources that I believe others might wish to use. Can they be offered through Musician’s Resource?
We would be happy to review your locally developed resources, as they pertain to Musician’s Resource goals and resource types, and consider them for publication. Submissions for Musician’s Resource are processed like any other submission to NPH. More information is available at https://online.nph.net/manuscript-submission.
Why do I have to buy a minimum number for certain items?
We strive to be fair with our usage terms and pricing. We also need to consider permissions and varied local needs. For some items, such as choral alternates, we suspect that the number of copies needed will vary considerably at each congregation. Many of these items assume a minimum of a director’s copy, accompanist’s copy, and at least a reasonable corps of singers. We set the minimums according to those assumptions, along with industry norms, as well as to guard (in part) against copyright infringement of digital materials.
