The Foolishness Of God is an in-depth look at Martin Luther's stance on the role of reason within Christianity. What does the Bible teach about human reason? Does reason have the ability to judge the Bible? Is Christianity intellectually defendable? The author works to clear up confusion over Luther’s concept of reason. It would be difficult to find a better description of Luther’s view of reason than the one provided by the author: "It is not Christianity that needs to be made reasonable. It is reason that needs to be made Christian."
The Foolishness Of God is a part of the NPH Classics series, which includes popular titles published by Northwestern Publishing House throughout its history. These books have consistently been in the greatest demand over the years and have been reprinted for this series.

"It is not Christianity that needs to be made reasonable. It is reason that needs to be made Christian." Review by 414Keeper-AnnetteAdrianA
In our sinfulness, humankind is bent on letting our thoughts and feelings stand in judgment of both the natural and revealed knowledge of God. Only when fallen reason is silenced can any of us truly be led to believe and rejoice in what appears to us to be the "foolishness" of God. At the same time Luther and Becker both consider God's gift of reason to be one of the greatest treasures we possess, and the reader finds encouragement to use that gift well. (Posted on 11/24/2017)
