This Bible study is written for people who have little or no knowledge of the Lutheran Confessions. It aims to show how the confessions fit into the history of the Lutheran Reformation. Featured topics include The Apostle's Creed, The Second Article of the Apostle's Creed, Public Order and Secular Government (the two kingdoms), Justification, The Real Presence in the Lord's Supper, the Antichrist, Adiaphora, and Free Will (the synergistic controversy). This study contains the following five lessons:
The Three Ecumenical Creeds: "The Ancient Church's Confession"
The Large and Small Catechisms: "The People's Confession"
The Augsburg Confession and the Apology: "The Princes' Confession"
The Smalcald Articles: "Luther's Confession"
The Formula of Concord: "The Theologians' Confession"
The CD in this kit contains PDF and RTF files of the student lessons and a PDF file of the leader's guide, which covers all the lessons.
The A Brief Introduction to the Lutheran Confessions course is part of the NPH Bible Insights series of Bible studies.
