Welcome to our Web page for our 2017 Lent resources. This year’s Lenten Worship Service kit is Repent: Turn to Jesus by Pastor Aaron L. Christie. The kit and the sermons alone are available in print (kit, sermons) and as downloadable files (kit, sermons).

Even in this 500th anniversary year of the Reformation, Christians often have a difficult time understanding repentance. While the papal indulgences of the 16th century are no longer an issue, believers today can still be deceived into not taking sin seriously by false teachings, worldly influence, and even their own apathy. These Lenten resources are firmly founded on the truth of God's Word to help you teach your members about repentance and forgiveness through Jesus' death as you journey together toward the cross and the empty tomb.

 This kit includes:

  • 9 complete sermons and other sermon helps
  • Service notes and suggestions—including hymn, psalm, and Scripture ideas—and psalm prayers
  • Midweek order of service copy master
  • CD with electronic files of the resources
  • Sample of the 2017 Lent bulletin available from NPH

We hope this page proves useful to you as you plan your Lenten worship in 2017. Remember - Ash Wednesday is March 1, 2017!

Remember copyright law! Pastors sharing pulpits during the Lent season must purchase the sermon series for each congregation where the sermons are used.

Download Wartburg Project Passion History (.pdf)

This Passion History weaves together the Wartburg Project translations of the four divinely inspired Gospel accounts into a unified Passion narrative. It is patterned after a Lutheran arrangement that was printed in both the Lutheran Lectionary of the former Evangelical Lutheran Synodical Conference of North America, and The Sufferings and Death of our Lord Jesus Christ, by John C. Lawrenz (Northwestern Publishing House, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, © 1988). In addition to the unified Passion account, this program includes arrangements for a three-year series of lessons based on the three Synoptic Gospels.

These readings were created and compiled by a group of Lutheran pastors and professors who are working together to produce a new translation of the Bible, commonly called the Wartburg Project. Keep in mind that this is a sample project to illustrate the style and aims of the larger Wartburg Project, which has not yet undergone final editing. For more information visit:

While Northwestern Publishing House was not involved in the development of this Passion History, we are pleased to provide it as a courtesy to the Wartburg Project translators.
